Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the consecration ceremony of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that he will observe an 11-day anushthan (rituals) leading up to the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at Ayodhya's Ram temple on January 22.
With only 11 days remaining for the auspicious 'pran pratishtha' of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for being able to witness the significant occasion. In a video message on the social platform X, he stated, "God has asked me to represent the people of India during the ceremony. Keeping this in mind, I am commencing an 11-day special ritual from today. I seek blessings from all of you."
“I am short of words to express my emotions at this point of time. It is an initiative on my part,” Modi said.
Significance of PM Modi's 11-day anushthan
According to Hindu shastras, the 'pran pratishtha' of a deity's idol is a intricate ritual governed by specific rules that must be adhered to before the ceremony.
Prime Minister Modi has decided to rigorously follow all the rituals despite hectic schedule and responsibilities. As a result, he has embarked on a 11-day anushthan.
In Hindu scriptures, specific instructions are outlined for the fasting regimen leading up to the consecration. As part of his daily routine, the prime minister observes rituals such as Brahma Muhurat Jagran, engages in prayers, and maintains a simple diet.
The prime minister is set to preside over the consecration ceremony of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. Final preparations for the event are underway, with invitations extended to several VVIP guests from India and abroad.
The Vedic rituals will begin on January 16, a week before the main ceremony. Lakshmi Kant Dixit, a priest from Varanasi, will perform the main ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony on January 22.
A 1008 Hundi Mahayagya is set to be organized, where thousands of devotees will be provided meals. In Ayodhya, several tent cities are being erected to accommodate the influx of thousands of devotees.
As per the Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust, arrangements are underway to accommodate 10,000-15,000 people during the event. Local authorities are also preparing for the expected surge in visitors for the grand ceremony. They are implementing heightened security measures and making logistical arrangements to ensure a seamless and spiritually enriching experience for all attendees.
